The EPD must have excellent news judgment and should have experience reporting in California. He or she will be or must quickly become highly knowledgeable about Southern Californians' news priorities and specifically KTLA viewers' interests.

She or he must also be able to edit, report and write accurately, clearly and quickly. The EPD will be a master of spelling, punctuation, grammar and AP Style, and will be able to train producers in those areas. Ideally, he or she should have experience in a local television newsroom.

The EPD also must have a good sense of what stories will be successful on social media, and will be able to assign and prioritize that content as needed. She or he must have a good eye for visual storytelling.

Requirements: A bachelor's degree, pably in journalism or communication, and at least seven years of relevant work experience in journalism are a must. At least one year of management experience, pably leading a digital team, and at least four years of experience working with digital platforms, including social media, are required.
