The Kanbar Undergraduate Film & Television Department at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Arts Professor of Cinematography for a position to commence in September 2019. Requirements

Cinematography candidates should have a resumė of nationally viewed material for major media outlets, proven effective university-level teaching of current digital cinematography production technology and techniques, and knowledge and proficiency of film technology for historical context. Must be able to teach digital theory and lighting classes.

The candidate will be required to teach at each level of matriculation: Fundamental, Intermediate, and Advanced Cinematography. Candidates must have an ability to teach digital motion picture cameras (ex: Alexa, Canon, Sony) and digital science. Ability to teach 16mm and 35mm is also encouraged.

Additionally, candidates must be able to teach the various techniques of studio and location lighting and camera movement found in feature films and commercials, as well as instruction of on-set protocol.

Faculty members will teach five courses per year (generally assigned as 3 in one semester and 2 in the other semester), advise undergraduate students, and participate in departmental and/or school-wide committees. Ongoing professional work is encouraged and expected.

Salary, to be negotiated, includes an excellent benefits package. Finalists will be asked to submit creative work and teaching materials from cinematography courses taught.
