Chapman University's nationally recognized Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seeks applications for a non-tenure track Artistic Assistant / Associate Professor of Television Writing and Producing, beginning August 2019.

Housed within the Sodaro-Pankey Undergraduate School of Media Arts, Television Writing and Producing is a program in narrative television that shares a focus on storytelling which binds together the many programs in Dodge College, one of the top film schools in the nation. The curriculum introduces students to the history, business, writing, and production of episodic and web-based television programs. Faculty duties include teaching theory, writing and producing in introductory and advanced courses in both the undergraduate and graduate program, academic advising, and program development. The teaching load is 18.5 credits per academic year plus continued professional work and/or research and scholarship and service to the school and university.

Requirements

Requirements include:
• Deep industry experience as a show-running writer/producer of prime-time dramas and/or comedies. 
• Teaching experience.
• Willingness to take a leadership role in building the program. 
• Committed to teaching first as well as to continuing their own professional work. 
• Degree in television or a related area (terminal degree preferred), and/or significant professional experience as described above. 

Desirable experience includes creating series, executive producing series, and writing or directing episodes of series. Experience writing and producing internet-based comedies and/or dramas is also desirable.
